An acupressure mat is an alternative to stimulating the pressure points and meridians in the body that activate the bodies self healing abilities. Acupressure is similar to acupuncture however it is less invasive as the points are activated just by pressing them by your hands, rollers, acupressure wands or standing on an acupressure mat.
Acupuncture is more invasive and not for the faint hearted who cannot watch needles. It also needs a trained therapist who can locate the exact points and meridians and insert needles into these points to activate them.
An acupressure mat can be used at any time of the day by just standing on it for 5-10 minutes in the morning and night. You will feel a tingling feeling after you step off it; that is just the blood circulating which has been stimulated by the points on the acupressure mat.
Some people also find the pain extremely excruciating in the first couple of times when they stand on it. Our promise is that it gets better with time. And even though it may really hurt when you stand on it at first, the after feel once you get off is that of complete relaxation. Also if you were to have any trained masseuse give you a massage, they will always work harder on a point that aches. That is a sign that there is a need of that point to be worked on and the related organ/ body part needs to be healed.
Note: Alternate therapies (including acupressure) are not substitutes for medical aid. Please do not replace them with your doctors advice or prescribed medication.
