Happy Fire Monkey Year 2016! Happy Chinese New Year!

Its the Chinese New Year! A time for change and a new outlook towards everything. Strange how a new date on the calendar can make you feel so optimistic, isn’t it? Some people like to set new goals, clean up the house, decorate their living space, etc. It all makes sense if you understand that with every new year, month and even day – the energies are changing.

If we talk about Bazi or Four Pillars of Destiny; the incoming celestial animal (also referred to as earthly branches) has its own element. Every element means something different to every person – depending on their own Bazi chart. Every animal also has its own qualities and identity in Bazi – but to see the effect they will bring, we need to look at what is being sent to us from above (the Heavenly stems).

2016 is the year of the Yang Fire Monkey. Fire is an element of joy and happiness. Monkey is a Metal element animal and it is an element of grief. How do we read that? We look at the relation between the elements of the Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch. In the cycle of birth and destruction, Fire destroys metal. So overall this year can be a year of conflict however Yang Fire people also have anger that builds up and strong like an explosive. But in general are patient, calm and warm hearted (until pushed to their limits). The Monkey of metal element represents the west direction where the sun sets – so the Fire will be cooler than one can imagine it would otherwise be with a rising sun!

We can analyse what the new year will bring for all the aspects such as finance, health, relations, etc. However this is also best to be done individually for your own Bazi chart.

Monkey is a nobleman for people that were born in the year of Yin Wood ( any year ending with 5 – 1955, 1965, etc) and Yin Earth (any year ending with 9 – 1979, 1989, etc). A nobleman are like our ancestors (the ones that like us) or guardians that look after us and bless us. And when your nobleman animal comes up – you will find that things just move easier than they normally do. You meet helpful people more often than not.

Monkey is a travelling star for people who were born in the year of Tiger, Horse or Dog. Im sure we all know which Chinese year we were born in. So for people born in these years, the monkey year might make you travel.

For those of you who have an Ox and Dog in their Bazi charts, the last year of Goat created an earth penalty. For this you had to carry a pendant/ keychain/ charm of a Horse. With the new monkey year you can now take it off and put it back for safekeeping.

The Monkey however clashes with the Tiger. So if you have a Tiger in your Bazi Chart you must carry a little Snake with you to reduce the effect of this clash.

If you have a Tiger and Snake in your Bazi Chart – then the incoming Monkey creates a Fire penalty. Fire element refers to the heart, blood and circulation. We must be careful of this; especially if Fire is not favourable to us.

In terms of Feng Shui, in the Flying Star School, we have 9 stars; each star has an element, color, emotion, purpose, effects, etc and these stars are constantly moving. When we move into a new year, it is a major shift in the energy. We as humans are also made of energy and thereby are effected by it.

In the Age of 8 (2004 – 2023), Flying Stars 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 are negative stars that must be cured. 2 denotes sickness and 5 of misfortune are the most troublesome of the all. 1, 8 and 9 are good stars and we can enhance them to bring better luck.

For 2016 – don’t forget to change your cures.

  • Sickness star 2 resides in the centre. Place 6 metal coins or a Wu Lou in this area.
  • Misfortune star 5 resides in NE. Place a full metal wind chime or salt water cure in this area.
  • Conflict star 3 resides in NW. Use red colors or the auspicious Lai See in this area.
  • Legal trouble star 6 resides in the South.
  • Scandal star 7 resides in the North. For both 6 and 7 place 3 bamboos in a clear glass vase with plain water.
  • Distant prosperity and Academic luck star 1 resides in the SE and can be enhanced by using metal, water elements and black or metallic shades.
  • Current prosperity star 8 resides in the SW.
  • Future prosperity star 9 resides in the East. Both stars 8 and 9 can be enhanced by using red colors, earthen pottery, salt lamps – anything that relates to Earth and Fire elements.

I must stress again that an individual Bazi reading or Feng Shui consultations is always a better way of finding what best suits your home and yourself. The above are generic outlines.

Wishing you all a very Happy Chinese New Year, lots of luck and success to all.

Love,
M
